Stuart Oliver

 Zurich, Switzerland, Spring 2010

Oliver's harmonica- accompanied acoustic act has taken him as far afield as New Zealand, Switzerland, and Hawaii. Inspired by the "Cosmic Americana" genre, coined by Emmylou Harris describing the marriage of psychedelic rock and country music, Oliver's song-writing is akin to that of Gram Parsons, John Prine and Jerry Jeff Walker, while drawing from modern influences such as Ryan Adams and Elliott Smith.

Currently contracted to write songs for Atlanta, GA based Vintage Earth Records artist Connor Chritian (Number 10 on CMT Request Chart, 2010), Oliver is co-founder of The Dusty Buskers (3 time TAMMIE Award winners), and is founder and producer of Old Bisbee Records ("A beatific record label that unearths and immortalizes the talent of the SouthWest" (Downtown Tucsonan). He founded the label for local artists following a banner 2 1/2 year booking career, putting "The Hut" (4th Ave, Tucson) on the map.

Other projects Oliver has produced include Family of Light, Silver Thread Trio, Jimmy Carr's Awkward Moments, Feta & Shiraz (featured on KXCI's Live From Studio 2A Vol. 5), and jazz/fusion band Fuzzy Warbles.

"...a rare example of a songwriter taking a moment to love the world he lives in."

Flagpole Magazine, Athens, GA

James of TucsonScene.Com and writer for Tucson Weekly writes...

...the opener tonight will freaking blow you away. Spearheaded by Stu from the Dusty Buskers and augmented by the harmonies of the lovely ladies of Silver Thread Trio, Family of Light is most ambitious project I’ve seen in town since Campo Bravo (or, of course, Golden Boots), featuring mandolins, strings, pedals steel, harmonica and a heavy helping of reverb. They‘ve posted some demos on their MySpace, which barely touches on the overwhelming experience of seeing them in a live setting, but the cut “The Salad Days” comes damn close. Listen to it by clicking on Family of Light. FOL play first, at 9:30, probably because it takes so long to set their gear up, but keep an eye on these kids.
